RedBear IT is a Cloud Services company. We enable our customers to migrate to and innovate on Cloud. We are a growing Melbourne based company with large and small customers, both start-ups and established, commercial and government. RedBear IT is known for building high quality solutions for our customers. We also provide a managed security service and we are recognised as specialists in Cloud security. We need another Cloud Engineer to help us continue to deliver exceptional service.

RedBear IT cherish critical thinkers, engineers who can work with a challenge or a problem and see it through to the end. We don’t like to do things twice. So, if you like developing automation and letting the machines do the boring work, RedBear IT is a great place to do that. Our customers value our expertise so you will need to be able to craft a design and make it happen.

As a growing organisation, we often wear many hats. From coding automation to designing and presenting solutions, to solving operational issues for our customers as part of our managed service. Sometimes you’ll be working on our managed services, other times you may be responding to a potential incident or delivering new solutions for our customers.

What’s the technical wrap?

We are looking for an engineer with a passion for automation primarily in the AWS Cloud. Our preference is to use Python and serverless (Lambda) for our coding and Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure as code. We often make use of APIs for integration so experience with either writing or using them is a benefit. Like any good coder, we believe in source control, such as github, and make use of pipelines. If you have an AWS certification, that’s a bonus. If not, we will help you to work towards that!

Analytics drive our managed service and security solution. We are looking for someone with exposure and understanding of any of Sumologic, Splunk, Hadoop, Athena, SQL and general data analysis. Ideally you will understand what it takes to provide highly available, highly resilient and secure solutions for Enterprise customers. You don’t need to be a security guru. However, you do need to be thinking about security with every decision you make for our customers.

You will also be part of our managed services support team, working directly with customers, enhancing the machine and coming up with clever new ideas!

The environment

We are Melbourne CBD based but we offer flexible working. At the moment, most of the team are in the office 2 days a week and working from home the rest of the time. We like to get together in person to build that team experience. Our office space is close to public transport with lots of good coffee within 50m! We work hard and like to have fun. We also offer the chance to attend conferences as part of your learning. Collaboration is key and we expect people to ask for help when they need it. We don’t expect anyone to work in a silo, even if they are owning a particular problem or opportunity. Our team is full of motivated self managers.

We offer an opportunity to grow both your technical and people skills. We want a cloud engineer who can grab an opportunity and run with it. This is your chance to be part of a growing team where you can develop your skills in Cloud, automation and security. As you grow, a technical leadership role opportunity is also available.
